As a district hospital it serves many patients from the entire district.

It recently has enjoyed considerable investment and is beginning a partnership with the University of Botswana to train Botswana’s new Doctors.

Established in 1929, Athlone Hospital in Lobatse was the first government hospital in Botswana during the colonial era. Before its inception, only mission hospitals such as Scottish Livingstone in Molepolole and Seventh Day Adventist in Kanye were operational.
