The Eugene Dupuch Law School offers two dynamic programmes, with small class sizes, clinical components and an excellent success rate.
2-Year Programme
The 2-Year Programme is a full-time course designed for persons who hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI) or another equivalent degree from a university approved by the Council of Legal Education.
Persons holding a degree other than a University of the West Indies LL.B. degree are required to sit an entrance examination.
Law Schools are zoned for the admission of students from participating territories of the West Indies. The Eugene Dupuch Law School is zoned for nationals of The Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos. We welcome and encourage applicants from all territories, who meet eligibility requirements however such applicants are subject to a separate fee structure.
Upon successful completion of the 2-year programme, candidates are awarded a Legal Education Certificate (L.E.C.) which is recognised throughout the Caribbean region as the professional qualification for admission to practice.

6-Month Programme
The 6 Month Programme is designed as a transitional programme for persons who hold a first degree in law, who have qualified, and already have been admitted to practice in a Common Law Jurisdiction and who are seeking to practise law in any of the relevant jurisdictions covered by the Agreement Establishing the Council of Legal Education. The programme runs from September to March.
How To Apply
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, applicants must be in possession of an approved qualification.
A. A degree from a University or institution recognized by the Council of Legal Education as being equivalent to the degree of Bachelor of Laws of the University of the West Indies; and
B. Hold either:
- a qualification which, had it been obtained prior to October 1, 1972, would have been recognized by all participating territories as a qualification to be admitted to practice as a barrister or solicitor in those territories; or
- A qualification obtained in a common law jurisdiction for admission to practice in that jurisdiction and which qualification is approved by the Council; and
- furnish a certificate of good standing from a competent authority in the jurisdiction where they have been admitted to practice.
