Mauritius Itinerary

Day 1

Your first day in Mauritius should be dedicated to much-needed relaxation after a day of travelling and jet lag. Head on over to your hotel after you arrive at the airport.

You can spend the rest of your day lounging about the hotel and exploring the various guest facilities here. Towards the evening, you could even idle along the beaches near the hotel and enjoy a lovely sunset on the beachside.

Day 2

You can spend your second day in Mauritius exploring the South Islands here. An ideal Mauritius itinerary for the second day would include an early morning tour of the Troux-Aux-Cerfs, a naturally occurring dormant volcano, and Ganga Talao, a natural pool below the volcano.

You may also choose to visit the nearby Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth, and jaunt to the waterfall there. Back at the hotel by nightfall, you could try out the various nightlife spots in Mauritius.

Alternatively, if you desire a quiet night at the hotel, you may choose to dine at the in-house restaurant here. A night walk at the beach could also be taken to close a happening day.

Day 3

The third day in your Mauritius itinerary could be dedicated to shopping. There are quality markets scattered throughout the island, making sure you have the best shopping experience no matter where you are situated.

You can lease a car to take you to various shopping centres and markets around Mauritius to shop for souvenirs and other items to take back home. You could visit the Port Louis market for textile items, artefacts and jewellery items.

The Flacq shopping centre in eastern Mauritius is also well known for its multiple shopping streets and boutiques. At night, you can choose to explore the various nightclubs and late-night pubs around the island.

Day 4

Day four of your Mauritius itinerary can be spent enjoying watersports on the beaches near Mauritius. You can take a jetty and head on over to the Deer Islands or Ile Aux Cerfs for the activity. The emerald lagoon here makes it an ideal place to enjoy water-based activities.

Apart from swimming, you can also try your hand out at various other sports such as snorkelling, waterskiing, banana boating, parasailing or underwater walking.

Lunch can be taken on the island itself. Upon returning, make sure you have plenty of rest after the hectic day to be ready for the sightseeing tour the next day and enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel itself.

Day 5

Day five of your Mauritius itinerary can be spent on a full-day tour of the northern islands. You can visit the capital city of Port Louis, and explore the typical French beauty of the La Citadel and also Place D’Armes. A quick visit to the Champ de Mars Racecourse would also be a great addition to your Mauritius itinerary.

You can then stop at the Caudan Waterfront to enjoy a fulfilling shopping experience. If you still have time after this, you may choose to visit the Pamplemousses Garden, the National Botanical Garden and Grand Baie. Upon reaching back at the hotel at night, have a quiet dinner at the restaurant here.
