How To Apply Dickinson State University Scholarships

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Presidential Scholarships provide qualified new students $1600 per year, split between two semesters. Cabinet will set exact scholarship amounts each year. Applicants must meet a cumulative GPA requirement of 3.25 for freshman OR minimum standardized test score of ACT 22, SAT 1100, TOEFL 83, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 115 OR cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 for transfer students.

These scholarships cannot be combined with the DSU Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Scholarship, but may be combined with other forms of institutional waivers and DSU Heritage Foundation Scholarships.

Presidential Scholarships are renewable with consecutive and continued enrollment and must earn a minimum of 24 credits in the academic year with a 3.0 GPA. You must be enrolled full-time in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester at DSU. Collaborative credits do not count towards the 12 credit minimum requirement. It is renewable for up to four years for first-time freshmen and three years for transfer students.

DSU HERITAGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The DSU Heritage Foundation is investing in future generations by awarding scholarships. The Foundation supports the University by rewarding academic and extracurricular excellence as well as supporting scholarly and creative activities.

THEODORE ROOSEVELT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP

DSU’s Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program is a student-driven program which allows participants to maximize their time in the classroom. Students hone decision-making and problem-solving techniques with intellectual rigor and character development. 

Students accepted into the TR Honors Program receive a scholarship of $3,200 per year for the first two years, and $4,000 per year for the last two years.

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Athletic scholarships are awarded to student-athletes on a case by case basis. To be considered, fill out a recruitment form for each sport at www.dsubluehawks.com.

HIGH SCHOOL “HIGH FLIERS” SCHOLARSHIP

The High School “High Fliers” Scholarship is available to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The scholarship waives a percentage of tuition so that the per credit cost to students does not exceed the subsidized dual credit tuition rate for early entry courses taken via DSUlive™ or online. Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 high school GPA as proven by submission of an official in-progress high school transcript. The “High Fliers” Scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in DSU coursework and is pursuing their education as a high school student. Upon completion of a GED or High School Diploma, students may apply for other scholarship or awards programs at DSU to receive aid.

FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS AWARDS

These scholarships are available to students majoring in a Fine and Performing Arts field. The recipient of this award is expected to assist in recruitment and promotion of the department. To be eligible, you must be accepted to DSU and be enrolled full time (12 hours per semester). You must also maintain good academic and financial standing.

New Students

Returning Students
Returning students must complete the DSU Heritage Foundation scholarship application and talk with their faculty advisor.

International Students
International students are encouraged to complete the DSU Heritage Foundation scholarship application.

STAFF SENATE SCHOLARSHIP

The DSU Staff Senate Scholarship is intended to financially support a student who is a spouse or dependent of a DSU staff member. This scholarship will be awarded in addition to the DSU Employee Spouse and Dependent Tuition Waiver Request which covers only tuition.

BAKKEN U SCHOLARSHIPS

DSU is one of five colleges and universities in the North Dakota University System that participates in the Bakken U education initiative. This initiative is open to those working directly in an energy-related field or those seeking to strengthen their professional skills.
