How to Apply Southern Oregon University Online Application Forms For International Students

SOU’s International Programs welcomes students from around the world. Students who need an F-1 or J-1 visa to study in the U.S. should follow the guidelines here to apply for admission.

International Freshman Student Requirements

Freshman Undergraduate Applicants (under 1 year of university-level coursework):

  • Complete the online international student application for admission.
  • Submit official transcripts from your high school, including an English-language version. Depending on your country, documents are called transcripts, marks sheets, A-Levels, or a Secondary Leaving Certificate.
  • Submit official transcripts for any completed university-level coursework.
  • Send a copy of your high school diploma.
  • Submit official English Proficiency exam results.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Minimum Criteria:
2.5 on a 4.0 scale

International Transfer Student Requirements

Transfer Undergraduate Applicants (at least 1 year of completed university-level coursework):

  • Complete the online international student application for admission.
  • Submit official transcripts from your prior universities, including an English-language version.
  • Submit official English Proficiency exam results.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Minimum Criteria:
2.25 on a 4.0 scale

International Graduate or Second Bachelor’s Degree Requirements

Graduate Program Applicants:

  • Complete two graduate student applications for admission: 1) Online international graduate student application. 2) Departmental graduate student application.
  • Contact your graduate program coordinator about program admissions requirements.
  • Submit official transcripts from your prior universities, including an English-language version.
  • Send a copy of your university diploma.
  • Submit official GRE exam results if required by your chosen graduate program.
  • Submit official English Proficiency exam results.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Minimum Criteria:
3.0 on a 4.0 scale (in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester credits of undergraduate coursework)


Second Bachelor’s Degree (Post-baccalaureate) Applicants:

  • Complete the online international student application for admission.
  • Submit official transcripts from your prior universities, including an English-language version.
  • Send a copy of your university diploma.
  • Submit official English Proficiency exam results.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Minimum Criteria:
2.25 on a 4.0 scale
