How To Get Eswatini Citizenship

Citizenship is a legal status and relation between an individual and a state that entails specific legal rights and duties.

CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION:

 Citizenship applications are designed for foreign nationals who wish to assume Eswatini Citizenship upon fulfilling provision of the Citizenship Act, 1992 and the country’s Constitution.

                         CLASSES OF CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION & REQUIREMENTS

 CLASS C1- APPLICANTS ABOVE 21 YEARS

Requirements

  • Application form
  • Finger Prints (from nearest police station)
  • Covering letter
  • Residence Permit/ Khonta letter from chief and or certified Birth certificate
  • Two passport sized photos
  • E500.00 pre-application fee paid at revenue offices
  • Non –Swazi Pin /Khonta Classified Pin
  •  Upon issuance of certificate, applicants would be required to pay E1 000.00

CLASS C2- WOMEN MARRIED TO A SWAZI CITIZEN BY BIRTH

Requirements

  • Application form
  • Finger prints
  • Covering letter from husband
  • Husband birth or citizenship certificate (certified copy)
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Two passport sized photos
  • Amount E100.00 for pre-application fee paid at revenue offices
  • Both pins (husband and wife)
  • Upon issuance of certificate applicants would be required to pay E1 000.00

CLASS C-3- APPLICANT BELOW 21 YEARS

Requirements

  • Application form
  • Birth Certificate
  • Parents Citizenship status
  • Two passport sized photos
  • Pre- Application fee E500.00 paid at revenue offices
  • Non- Swazi Pin
  • Upon issuance of certificate applicants would be required to pay E5 000.00

NB

PERIOD OF PROCESSING CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION IS DETERMINED BY THE CITIZENSHIP BOARD AFTER GOING THROUGH EACH APPLICATION. FURTHERMORE, IF CITIZENSHIP IS APPROVED BY THE BOARD, THE SYSTEM WOULD REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING STEPS SO AS TO ENABLE THE “ESWATINI BY REGISTRATION” PERSONAL IDENTITY NUMBER (PIN) TO BE GENERATED;

  • Details from previous citizenship country
  • Renewed Details
  • Payment for certificate made at revenue offices

In what two ways does one become a Swazi citizen?

BY BIRTH: Birth within the territory of Swaziland does not automatically confer citizenship. 

BY DESCENT: Child, both of whose parents are citizens of Swaziland, regardless of the child’s country of birth.
