The Mauritius Institute of Education was established through the MIE Act 1973, subsequently amended in 1984. The MIE was set up with three main mandates, namely Teacher Education, Curriculum Development and Research, which are still the same today.
The MIE is a degree-awarding teacher education institution of higher learning, with the mandate for Educational Research, Curriculum Development and Teacher Education, responsible for pre-primary, primary, secondary and tertiary Education in the Republic of Mauritius, and operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research

Application must be made online through the MIE website: http://apply.mie.mu. Once the application is completed, an Online Declaration Form has to be completed, printed and signed to certify acceptance of the Terms and Conditions stipulated for the programme.
