Applying to a post-secondary institution is very exciting but may seem like a daunting process.

Whether you are currently in high school, a mature student considering going back to school or you are studying at another post-secondary institution and are thinking about making a change to Mount Royal, we would like your admission experience to be as easy as possible. We’ve put together checklists to help you with the admission process.Checklists

When can you expect an update on your application?

The admissions department is in the process of evaluating applications and making (conditional) offers to applicants whose required documents were received during Early Admission (Oct. 1 – Feb. 1) and who presented a high competitive admission average on the appropriate high school or post-secondary courses depending on the admission category that applies to each applicant. A limited number of additional offers for this period will be made to applicants in the post-secondary category as we evaluate a large number of transcripts.

Please note that many applications were received at the end of Early Admission and we want to ensure a careful evaluation for each one. Applicants with a competitive admission average that is close to the cut-off average for each program will experience an additional wait while we complete evaluations and establish waitlists for each program.

The average is determined based on the number of applications received for each program, the number of seats available and the competitive averages presented by the applicants. This is why some applicants will receive decisions before other applicants who applied around the same time. As we continue to move through the admission cycle, waitlists will be formed and more offers will be made to qualified applicants in all admission categories where space becomes available in each program.

Once we have completed your evaluation you will be able to view the decision on your Future Student Portal. You can ask a question(s) at mru.ca/ask.

Current MRU students who have questions about their application or admission status should email  advising@mtroyal.ca  for more information about booking an appointment with an advisor.
