Police officers (also called policemen or policewomen) are warranted law employees of a police force. In most countries, “police officer” is a generic term not specifying a particular rank. In some, the use of the rank “officer” is legally reserved for military personnel.

Requirements For Police Officers In Mauritius
The Mauritius Police Force (MPF) is the national law enforcement agency of Mauritius. The MPF carries out police, security, and military functions in Mauritius, with about 12,500 police officers under the command of the Commissioner of Police. The MPF is part of the Home Affairs Division, which operates under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s Office.

BELOW ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR POLICE OFFICERS IN MAURITIUS:
The public is hereby informed that the Disciplined Forces Service Commission will conduct a selection exercise for the recruitment of suitably qualified MALE and FEMALE candidates for appointment in the grades of Police Constable and Woman Police Constable, respectively, in Mauritius Police Force.
Age Limit, Qualifications & Other Requirements
1. The applicant should be 18 years of age.
A. Candidates should possess a Cambridge School Certificate with at least a pass in English Language, French Language and Mathematics or Principles of Accounts or passes obtained on one certificate at the
General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” either
(i) in five subjects including English Language, French Language and Mathematics or Principles of Accounts with at least Grade C in any two subjects or
(ii) in six subjects including English Language, French Language and Mathematics or Principles of Accounts with at least Grade C in any one subject or an equivalent qualification is acceptable to the Disciplined Forces Service Commission.

B. Candidates should: –
(i) Satisfy the following minimum physical requirements –
For male candidates
Height: 1 m 70
Chest Measurement: 84 cm (normal inspiration)
For female candidates
Height: 1 m 63
(ii) have a good physique;
(iii) be able to undergo strenuous physical exercise; and
(iv) have normal eyesight (without glasses or contact lenses).
C. Candidates should be computer literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of the knowledge claimed.
NOTE:
Candidates should not bear tattoos on visible parts of their bodies whilst wearing uniform/uniform with short sleeves on and after joining the Mauritius Police Force.
