For example, a student who transfers in 90 quarter units (60 semester units) can complete the degree in 6 to 7 quarters of full-time enrollment, or 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 years.
Applied Studies degree requirements are listed below. Note that many of these requirements can be earned at Antioch and/or transferred in. Students can transfer in up to 135 quarter/90 semester units from a previous college or university. Of those, up to 105 quarter/70 semester units can be lower division, or 100- and 200-level courses.

Students with scheduling challenges can also earn credit for independent study projects, or use a qualified job or volunteer commitment to earn internship credit.

The average time to complete an Applied Studies degree is 1-2 years, depending on number of credits transferred into Antioch University Santa Barbara.
Requirements:
Students need 180‐200 quarter units to graduate from Antioch University Santa Barbara’s Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies Program. You will need to meet the learning goals and complete the curriculum specific to your major, as well as certain undergraduate degree requirements. Applied Studies degree requirements include the following (earned through AUSB enrollment and/or transfer):
60 or more upper-division units (almost all of our courses are upper division)
Foundational courses to establish context and familiarize you with the skills you’ll use as you progress academically
Eight (8) units of experiential, non-classroom learning such as internships, self-directed independent studies or prior learning, to associate academics with real-life applications

Degree Requirements
An Arts and Literature concentration requires a minimum of 45 credits. Students take at least one class in each of the six areas of learning listed below. Electives, at least 2 credits of internship/field-based learning, and a senior synthesis project round out the concentration.
1. Writing Workshop
This area of learning emphasizes peer and instructor feedback on original creative writing and performance in a variety of genres, including poetry, fiction, play/screenwriting and nonfiction. Critical reading complements the creative work. Sample courses that meet this requirement:

Program Length:
The length of time it will take a student to complete this degree depends upon the number of credits transferred into the program, the use of prior learning credits and testing credits, and the number of credit hours taken each term. Antioch University operates on the quarter system. The classes are small, held once a week, and meet on a weeknight and weekend day. Classes are offered in in-person, hybrid and online modalities.
Requirements:
A minimum of 180-quarter credits (maximum of 120 lower division, plus a minimum of 60 upper division) is required with a minimum of 45 residency credits at AUS. As this is a degree completion program, a minimum of 36 transfer credits is required.
