First-year Student Requirements

Freshman applicants are current high school students or graduates who have never attended college (or have earned less than 24-semester college credits at other institutions).

Bachelor Degree Programs

  • High school graduation or GED
  • Minimum High School GPA of 2.5
  • Students with a 2.0-2.5 GPA may be admitted to certain baccalaureate programs with academic advising as a requirement.

Certificate/Associate Degree Programs

  • High school graduation or GED
  • No minimum GPA requirement

Test Scores and Placement Exam

Standardized test scores are not used in the admission decision; however, they are used for math and writing course level placement. More information about Placement Exams can be found in the academic catalog.

Note: Applicants who have earned college credit from a regionally accredited university while in high school will be required to submit those transcript(s). The transcript(s) will be evaluated for credit toward the applicant’s degree at UAA.

Transcripts

Required transcripts will be listed on the portal home page after the application is submitted. Log back into the Application Portal to review requirements and admission status.

Most applicants complete the application in about 15-30 minutes.

  1. Register with an email address and create a password.
  2. Create a profile with basic identification and contact information.
  3. Start an application; select a term, program and provide an academic history.
  4. Electronically sign, pay and submit the application.
