What is Wine?
Wine is an alcoholic drink typically made from fermented grapes. Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol and carbon dioxide, releasing heat in the process. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are major factors in different styles of wine.

Does wine expire?
When stored properly and kept unopened, white wines can often outlive their recommended drinking window by 1-2 years, red wines by 2-3 years, and cooking wines by 3-5 years.
Fine wine — as you may have guessed — can typically be consumed for decades.
Which wine is pure?
The purest of the pure — naturally fermented grape juice with no sulfites — is often called “zero-zero,” referring to the lack of added anything. The presence of sulfites doesn’t necessarily disqualify a bottle from the natural wine category, though.
