SHORT COURSES
MUSANZE SATELLITE CENTER
IPRC Tumba offers short courses in its Satellite center located in Musanze district. Musanze satellite center is composed of two sites, One located in Muhoza sector and other in Gacaca sector.
Introduction
Musanze satellite center was initiated in 2008 by former KIST (Kigali Institute of Science and Technology) and was funded by ADB (African Development Bank) through MINEDUC/SDSTP named as Center for innovation and technology transfer (CITT).Later in 2014, Musanze satellite activities were transferred from KIST to WDA (Workforce Development Authority) then management of WDA decides to hand over all Musanze satellite activities under IPRC-Tumba.
It is currently composed of two sites, one located at MUHOZA Sector which was rehabilitated by Jica in 2018 and other at Gacaca sector of Musanze district which was constructed under African Development Bank fund.
Training
Referring on discussion with local artisans, cooperatives, BDE Staff and TVET Staff of Musanze District and the facilities we have in ICT, renewable energies and metal fabrication, we realise a need for Training in different technologies as follow:
Gacaca site:
- Training in Welding,
- Training in Domestic Electrical installation,
- Training in Biomass Technology
Muhoza site:
- Training in PC Maintenance
- Training in Repair and maintenance electronic devices
- Training in Solar Photovoltaic installation
From 24th February 2017, the official hander over of Musanze Satellite center to IPRC Tumba by MINEDUC up to now the center has trained 610 trainees in different trades where 464 trainees were sponsored by NEP for a period of three months in welding, PC Maintenance, Domestic electricity;83 trainees sponsored by SDF-2 for a period of three months in Biomass Technology Domestic electricity ,Solar Photovoltaic installation;18 private trainees in Repair and maintenance electronic devices and 45 children of ages between 13-18 trained in Computer programming (Boot Camp training) for a period of two weeks.
