General Requirements

Candidates must be:

Either Pass in :

3 Subjects at A-level and 1 subject at subsidiary level of Higher School Certificate Examination;

OR Pass in :

2 Subjects at A-level and 2 subjects at subsidiary level of Higher School Certificate Examination;

OR Pass in :

3 Subjects at A-level at the London Certificate Examination or equivalent;

The specific minimum requirements for admission to individual programmes leading to the award of a certificate/diploma/under graduate degree are provided under programme requirements.

The Academic Council may require an applicant to sit for a special entrance examination for admission
Foreign students may be admitted with a minimum of 2 A- Level or equivalent
Programme Requirements for B. ED

A Teacher’s Diploma in the relevant field of study from the Mauritius Institute of Education.

Entry Requirements for PHD Programme UKZN/MIE

• Entry into the programme is by written application.

• Students must have a Masters Degree or an MEd or equivalent with at least one year experience of working/researching in the field of education.

Entry requirements for EDD Programme

Degree and/or experience:

A qualification, normally at master’s level in a relevant subject or appropriate research experience. An application made by someone with research experience but with no master’s level qualification will be considered on its merits and will normally require independent academic references.

Applicants will normally have at least four years of appropriate professional experiences.

Applicants whose grades fall below these requirements, but who can demonstrate a high commitment to the subject discipline or have relevant work experience, are still encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis.
